Overview
Commissioned by the Australian Government, Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, this report brings together, in one volume and in hard copy, the fourstaged reports on the research project Interventions early in school as a means to improve higher education outcomes for disadvantaged (particularly low SES) students. The report includes:
- a review of the international research literature on higher education systems and
- programs from OECD nations
- a national survey of Australian university programs focused on preYear 11 school students
- seven case studies of good practice in university outreach drawn from Australian universities
- a Design and Evaluation Matrix (DEMO) for university outreach programs that are highly likely to increase the number of disadvantaged students enrolling in higher education than otherwise would have been the case.
